Seeing An Optometrist

Going to an eye doctor can be very nerve racking. The thing to remember about an eye appointment is that it is for your own benefit, and there is no such thing as a fail. If you need to have help with your eyes, they are going to help you. They are going to be able to do a lot when they check your eyes. Here are just a few of the things that they will be checking when you go to the eye doctor for an appointment.

Vision

One of the very first things that they are going to check is your vision. Most of the time you are going to be asked to look at the Snellen chart. This is going to be a chart that has different sized letters on it. You may have seen it before, but you may have not known what it is. They will ask you to look at the chart and tell them what each letter is. This gives them an idea of how your vision is. They will give you a few other tests to see how your vision is, and they will then figure out a way to correct it for you.

Color Blindness

Something that is is also checked for during an eye exam is colorblindness. The way that the doctor will check for this is they will bring out a card that has polka dots on it. The dots will be different colors, but a color blind person will not be able to see the number. So if you are color blind they will know in a very short time.

Eye Health

The doctor is also going to make sure that they check the health of your eye. They are going to want make sure that all the blood vessels that are in your eye are under normal amounts of pressure. They will also make sure that all the different parts of the eye are healthy. The way that the doctor will often do this is by taking a photograph of the eye. This way they are able to check the entire anatomy, and ensure everything is functioning properly.
